American Tower Announces Agreement to Acquire InSite Wireless Group

American Tower Corporation (NYSE: AMT) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Catalyst portfolio company InSite Wireless Group, LLC (“InSite”), which owns, operates and manages approximately 3,000 communications sites, primarily in the U.S. and Canada. The portfolio includes more than 1,400 owned towers in the U.S., over 200 owned towers in Canada and approximately 70 distributed antenna system (“DAS”) networks in the U.S. In addition, InSite controls more than 600 land parcels under communications sites as well as approximately 400 rooftop sites.

InSite Wireless Group Expands Rooftop Portfolio Through Acquisition of Repeater Communications

Catalyst-backed InSite Wireless Group, LLC, one of the largest privately-owned tower and wireless infrastructure companies in the U.S., acquired Repeater Communications Group, LLC, one of the leading operators of leased rooftop telecommunications sites in New York City and surrounding markets. With this acquisition, InSite expands its portfolio of urban rooftop assets and gains a significant foothold in some of the nation’s largest BTA markets.

InSite Wireless Group Appoints Chief Strategy Officer

InSite Wireless Group, LLC (“InSite”), one of the largest privately owned tower and wireless infrastructure companies in the U.S., announces that industry veteran, Tony Sabatino, former Chief Technology Officer and President of Business Development Telecom at Sabre Industries, will join InSite as its President and Chief Strategy Officer.

Catalyst Investors Sells InSite Wireless Stake, Continues Partnership Through Fund IV

InSite Wireless Group, LLC announced that Macquarie Infrastructure Partners III—as part of an initial investment of approximately $280 million—has acquired a 42.5% equity interest in the company from Catalyst Investors II, L.P. and other minority investors. MIP III has also committed to additional future investments to promote InSite’s continued growth. InSite will continue to be led by its existing management team headed by co-founders David E. Weisman, President and CEO, and Lance C. Cawley, CFO. Cox Enterprises—and several of its subsidiaries—and Catalyst Investors IV, L.P. will continue to be investors in InSite.

Cell Service on the MBTA Is Set to Improve

Alexandria, Va.-based InSite Wireless, which is currently performing the installation of wireless service on the MBTA, recently announced that they have partnered with all the major wireless providers — Sprint, AT&T, Verizon,T-Mobile, and Comcast (for WiFi) — on the project so that all mobile users will have access to the Internet and phone services while riding the T.

Catalyst Investors announced a follow-on investment in portfolio company InSite Wireless Group, LLC, owner, operator and manager of wireless communication tower site facilities and distributed antenna systems (DAS) across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The new investment comes following an investment by Cox Enterprises, Inc.
