Former CTO, AOL
John is the CEO of lert.ly. This is his second senior care startup. The first, OurParents, had a successful exit to RealPage. He is an active and successful early-stage investor, whose current company, lert.ly, utilizes innovative wireless technology to allow seniors to live independently longer.
Over the last six years, companies in his portfolio have successful exits to such acquirers as Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, RealPage, AOL, Zynga and others. John also has run a number of large tech organizations. Most recently, John served as the Chief Technology Officer for News Corporation, in charge of shaping the overall technology strategy of the corporation, where his team launched a number of critically acclaimed apps for Fox, Fox Sports, BTN, FX, and American Idol, among others.
John was founder and President of Digital Services for AOL where he developed and launched numerous award-winning wireless and online services businesses. He also served as AOL’s CTO.
Previously, John was Executive Vice President and head of Global Technology and Services for Merrill Lynch where he oversaw the creation of the top rated ML Direct and ML Online services.
John has been an advisor to or member of the Boards of Directors at Equifax, Powerset, MessageLabs, Xoopit, Proxicom, MyQVO, ObjectVideo, and Reputation Institute.
John is a graduate of the Wharton School.
