Ben is one of the best known technology entrepreneurs in the UK having co-founded three businesses helping to grow them all into market leaders each with revenues in excess of $100M. In 1993, Mr. White co-founded RBR Networks, an IT distributor that specialized in Cisco. By 1998 RBR had become Cisco’s largest distributor in Europe, with revenues in excess of $160M, and towards the end of that year was acquired by Datatec.
At the same time he co-founded Star Internet in 1995 as one of the UK’s first ISPs. Ben served as Star’s CEO from 1995 to 2000 and 2006 to 2008, establishing the company as one of the UK’s largest ISPs. Ben led a management buy-out of the company in 2007. In 2012 Star was sold to Claranet for £55M. In 2000, Ben co-founded MessageLabs to scale up the anti-virus technology developed within Star. He served as the CEO of MessageLabs until 2006. In 2008 MessageLabs was acquired by Symantec for approximately $700M. Upon completion of the acquisition Ben stepped down from the MessageLabs board to devote his time to Notion Capital, a SaaS focused venture fund where together with his general fund responsibilities, he focused on strategy, product and technology within portfolio companies.
Ben is currently spending his time developing a handful of exciting tech companies who focus on eCommerce and next generation email products, with which he has invested personally and holds active board seats.
